NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER
TRANSITION OF LOCAL ELECTIONS FROM THE MONTH OF MAY TO THE NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION DATES PURSUANT TO VIRGINIA CODE SECTION 24.2-222.1

The Town Council of the Town of Warsaw, Virginia, will on November 14th, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as such matter may be heard, conduct a public hearing at the Town Hall, 78 Belle Ville Lane, Warsaw, Virginia, to receive public comment on a proposed ordinance which would transition all future elections for Town Council from the current May election dates as described in the Town Charter, to take place instead at the November general election of any year in which such election would otherwise have taken place, beginning with the general election to be held in November, 2020, and every two years thereafter. The effect of the proposed ordinance would be to extend the expiration date of the term of office of any member of Town Council or the Mayor from June 30 of the year of expiration until December 31 of the same year. The proposed ordinance is authorized pursuant to Virginia Code Section 24.2-222.1 notwithstanding the provisions contained in the Town Charter prescribing May election dates.

Copies of the proposed Ordinance are available for examination at the Office of the Town Manager at the Town Hall, Town of Warsaw, 78 Belle Ville Lane, Warsaw, Virginia.
