Richmond County locals brought in the Thanksgiving holiday over the weekend with a fun and charitable race at the first ever Warsaw Turkey Trot. The Northern Neck community came together Saturday morning at the Warsaw Town Park where the Richmond County Family YMCA and Warsaw-Richmond County Main Street Program hosted a 5K run and a 1-Mile Gobble Wobble Kids Run. In true Richmond County fashion, the race was true to its name and hosted live turkeys to see off the runners.
Each registered runner brought in proceeds that will benefit the Richmond County Family YMCA 2019 Annual Campaign and the Healthy Harvest Food Bank, as well as the chance to race and win a $50 gift card to Michelle’s Sweet Treats for the Gobble Wobble or $250 for the 5K.
In addition, Turkey Trot proceeds also benefit the Richmond County Family YMCA’s Guardian Program, a program designed to financially assist Richmond County locals with YMCA memberships, childcare, and more.
