The office of U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman, R-1 District has announced that the congressman will run for governor in the 2017 gubernatorial election. The R-1 district includes Northumberland, Essex and Richmond Counties.
Garrison Coward, Wittman’s political director, said that if elected to serve as governor, Wittman would maintain the same priorities that he has had while serving in congress. Those priorities include working to provide great efficiency and accountability in Chesapeake Bay restoration efforts, supporting pro-life and pro-family legislation.
