On October 14, the Warsaw Food Lion staff and Mayor Randall L. Phelps celebrated Food Lion’s ribbon cutting for Food Lion To-Go.
The ceremony took place outside of Warsaw’s Food Lion where Mayor Phelps expressed both his excitement and optimism for Warsaw’s newest highlight, calling it a “new level of convenience.”
The new grocery shopping feature will allow customers the opportunity to shop for their groceries online and pick them up from the convenience of their cars at the Food Lion parking lot. Food Lion To-Go, an Instacart feature, can be accessed from Food Lion’s site, foodlion.com, and creates an effective way for those with busy schedules to still get their shopping done on-the-go. Orders that total less than $35 include a fee of $3.99. For orders that are $35 or above, a $1.99 fee is included.
Although the mobile feature was not planned to come to Warsaw until the next year, its success in other towns caused an earlier entrance. Customers of all generations have expressed approval of Food Lion’s door-side grocery feature. Another benefit that the Northern Neck community can expect is an increase in Food Lion job opportunities, thanks to the To-Go feature.
With a projection of over 100 other Food Lion locations premiering the mobile feature, the Warsaw community is encouraged to order their groceries from the convenience of their phones and not hesitate to give feedback to the Food Lion To-Go team.
Warsaw’s Food Lion To-Go Lead, Rashad Bea, encourages the Northern Neck community to utilize the To-Go feature, stating: “Come out and try it [To-Go], because it is something new and growing.”
