Once again, the Wireless Zone in Tappahannock is partnering with the Marine Corp Toys for Tots program. New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the collection bins located in the store during the holiday shopping season.
Every year the Wireless Zone is one of many local businesses that contribute towards the millions of toys that Toys for Tots distributes to less fortunate children nationwide with the goal of delivering a message of hope to younger generations.
Started 71 years ago by Marine Corp Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, the Marine Corps Toys for Tots has been listed as a top charity in the Philanthropy 400, earned a Charity Navigators four-star rating, and was accredited by the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance. Annually, they distribute an average of 18 million toys to 7 million children who otherwise would not have presents to open Christmas morning.
“We encourage each of our customers to bring a toy donation with them on their next visit to Wireless Zone,” said Hershel Martin, owner of Wireless Zone in Tappahannock Towne Center. “Supporting Toys for Tots seemed like the right thing to do. We’ve been successful in this community and we wanted to do something to give back.”
