Tappahannock native Chris Brown is currently residing in a location approximately 5 miles from his hometown.
But it wasn’t the type of homecoming that anyone would hope to have.
The 24-year-old singer was recently moved to the Northern Neck Regional Jail by the U.S. Marshals Service from California, a jail official confirmed last week. Brown came to NNRJ in Warsaw from a transfer off of the federal airlift from the Los Angeles County jail system.
An administrator said that Brown was being housed at NNRJ because of the jail’s relationship with the U.S. Marshals Service. According to a wire report from CNN, Brown is awaiting trial in Washington, D.C. on a misdemeanor assault. He and his bodyguard, Christopher Hollosy, are charged with allegedly punching a man who was attempting to board Brown’s tour bus outside Washington’s W Hotel in October.
Brown is in the jail’s restricted general housing and has all of the same privileges as the other inmates.
His trial is slated for later this month.
