Riverside Tappahannock Hospital receives a perfect quality score

Posted on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 2:30 pm

Riverside Tappahannock Hospital (RTH), was one of only 4 small rural community hospitals to receive a perfect score on Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Q-HIP measures. There are 46 small rural hospitals that participate in the Anthem’s program in Virginia, New York, and Georgia.

Anthem’s Q-HIP (Quality Hospital Incentive Program) measures look at how well hospital staff:

  • communicate with patients and each other
  • maintain evidence based infection control practices
  • perform on safety behaviors
  • perform on Joint Commission National Quality Measures
  • implement community health initiatives.

This is the fourth major quality award that RTH has received in the past nine months. The others include: Joint Commission Top Performer, Leapfrog Grade “A” Hospital Safety Score; and QUEST Citation of Merit.

“This confirms that we’re doing all we can to maintain quality and ensure patient safety at our hospital,” said Kate Lim, Directory of Quality at RTH.  It also demonstrates to our patients and the community that they can be assured that our hospital provides the highest level of care based on national quality standards.”

“With the Riverside Health System launch of the Team Up For Safety initiative last year, we started on a mission to reduce preventable harm as part of our commitment to caring for others as we would care for those we love. It’s wonderful to see that the hard work of our staff is paying off  and creating an environment of  high quality, compassionate care.”
