Indian Field Convenience Center in Richmond County is currently contemplating altering their hours of operation for days impacted by limited sunlight during Standard Time. The proposed change would be observed from November to March with the convenience center being opened from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Currently, the center is open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Richmond County Board of Supervisors are behind the suggestion; if the hour change is approved, all three convenience centers – used primarily for recycling purposes – will alter their hours.
Richmond County Administrator R. Morgan Quicke stated in an interview, “We’re trying to do good business and make sure we’re not wasting money.”
Quicke estimated that the county could save approximately $6,500 through the reduction of hours. While the county owns the convenience centers, it contracts Waste Management to perform day-to-day operations at the facility.
Richmond County has advertised the proposed change and asked for input from residents on the hour changes.
