It was a good week for the Rappahannock Raiders varsity basketball team; they won all three of their games. The Raiders were home against the West Point Pointers on Monday, December 3, away versus the Mathews Blue Devils on Wednesday, December 5, and away against the Mountain View Wildcats on Friday, December 7. The Pointers hit the first three-pointer of the game and had the lead until the 4:55 mark of the first when the score was tied (3-3). The Raiders took a one-point lead (4-3) then went on to go ahead (10-4) and were up (12-4) at the end of the first period. The visitors closed within three points (12-9) and that’s as close as they would get. The home team’s eight-point run made it (20-9) with 5:36 left in the second period; they closed out the first half up (29-15). Head Coach Jonas said, “The game plan was to pressure the Pointers and make it a running game. We played a poor first half even though we were up by fourteen.” In the third period, the Raiders doubled up the Pointers (37-15) and (46-23). They continued to jump the passing lanes and crash the boards to win (69-32). Head Coach Jonas Ankrom stated, “We settled down and got into the groove in the third period.
