The Rappahannock Raiders varsity baseball team was home versus the King William Cavaliers on Tuesday, March 26. Whatever could go wrong for the Raiders did go wrong. Head Coach James Bieger said, “We are struggling defensively. Our pitchers are throwing strikes yet behind them we are making errors at inopportune times. We need to fight the contagious feel of making mistakes. When you step on the field, you have to catch, hit, and throw; we are trying to find a way to make something good happen.” The Raiders had six errors in their loss to the Cavaliers (4-14). The visitor scored first then the home team closed the gap (3-5) in the bottom of the first inning. The Cavaliers scored one in the third, two in the fourth and six in the fifth to get the run rule. Tyler West had a big fly in the first to get 3 rbi’s, Jacob Mothershead had 2 hits and scored 2 runs, and Korey Gordon 1 hit and 1 rbi.
