The Rappahannock Raiders varsity basketball team blew out the King and Queen Central Tigers at home on Monday, December 17. “We ran our offense and pressured the ball to get the lead then we lost focus and went away from the things that we wanted to work on”, said Head Coach Jonas Ankrom. The Raiders scored first then the Tigers tied the game at (2-2) that’s as close as the game would be for the next thirty minutes. The home team went ahead (4-2), (6-2), and up to (16-2) with 3:38 left in the first period. They maintained the double-digit advantage (22-6) with 1:22 left in the first. Mid-way through the second quarter the Raiders were ahead by twenty-two (35-13) and at the half the score was (39-18). “We have to grow as a team and build on our effort from the first half to the second half” stated Head Coach Jonas Ankrom. Each game has a first and second half giving both teams an opportunity to make adjustments or change their focus and intensity. The home team was still up by twenty at the end of the third period (56-35).
