The Rappahannock Varsity baseball team rode a plethora of runs scored for two victories this past week. The team defeated Washington and Lee 21-3 on Tuesday and continued their offensive onslaught on Thursday by defeating Essex 14-5.
The two wins left the Raiders with a 8 and 1 record leading into this week’s games against Northumberland and Colonial Beach.
Against Washington and Lee, the scoring started early for Raiders and never slowed. Eamonn Collins led off the first inning with a walk, Chance Herbert sacrificed him to second, and Collins made it to third and then scored on a passed ball.
In the second inning the Raiders scored 11 runs. Ken Pierson led the inning off with a walk, Austin Scott singled, Romeo Jackson walked, Collins singled, Herbert walked, Devin Sisson singled, Mitchell Hale walked, Hunter Sanders singled, Pierson drew his second walk of the inning, Scott walked, Marquis Lanier walked, Jackson walked, Collins doubled, and Herbert doubled to complete the scoring.
