Raiders golf keeps swinging

The Rappahannock Raiders golf team had a three-team match with the Lancaster Red Devils and Mathews Blue Devils at Quinton Oaks Golf Course on Tuesday September 10. This was a nine-hole best four scores event. The Raiders and Red Devils were tied at the end of the nine holes. Sydney DeShazo shot a 40, Josh White 45, Bryce Self 46, and Lewis Ginn 47 to total 178. Red Devils Colby Sullivan recorded a match low 36, Eli Pittman 45, DJ Zieler 46, and Carter McGee 51 for a 178. Blue Devils Matt Jenkins shot a 43, Cole Hoff a 45, Coulton Barrack and Ethan Long 56 for a 200 total. The Raiders and Red Devils played a playoff hole with their top player vying for the win. The Raiders recorded a 6, 5, 4, and 5 for a twenty; the Red Devils made a 5, 5, 6, and 5 for a twenty-one. The home team was one shot better for the victory. The Raiders traveled to Indian Creek County Club to play the Northumberland Indians on Thursday September 12. It was a nice day to play nine. Sydney DeShazo logged a 39, Josh White 43, Bryce Self and Xavier Rich both shot 48 for a 178. The Indians Chase Fisher had the low round of 38, Patrick Lewis 42, Matthew Jet 44, and Cory Palubinski 46 for a 170 total. The team has to fine tune their swings and putting strokes to prepare for the second season (tournaments). The top four players have to be consistent for them to win and advance as the competition get tougher. Rappahannock will face Essex on Tuesday September 17 at Hobbs Hole Golf Course.
