When Project Joy honors a very special family in early December each year at Haynesville Correctional Center (HCC), an unutterably lovely radiance gradually fills the air. Peace, like a river, washes away another seemingly interminable year of homesickness.
This year’s 20th annual Project Joy celebration with its theme “All I want for Christmas is Peace on Earth” assuredly brought a song to the hearts of the visiting family, the Watsons (not their real name).
And glory also touched the souls of more than four-score HCC inmates and employees and supporters from throughout the community, as they gathered for a banquet and the presentation of gifts to the four Watson kids, ranging in age from 20 months to seven years.
