Margaret Anne Dean
Margaret Anne Dean, 76, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at her home in Mabank, TX. Survivors include her children, Catharine Dean, Garrett Dean (Jodi), and James Dean; her granddaughter, Kelly Dean; and her brother, William Fogg. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Felix B. and May Garrett Wilson, her brother, Thomas Wilson, and her son, George M. Dean, Jr.
Margaret was born in Essex County, VA on April 20th, 1936. She graduated from St. Margaret’s School in 1954 and attended the University of South Carolina. Margaret held numerous positions throughout her career including working for Dean Seafood, St. Margaret’s School, Tappahannock Manor, and finally retired from The Haven Shelter & Services in 2007 where she served for well over a decade as a Shelter Manager.
Margaret enjoyed many activities including playing the piano, reading, collecting antiques, decorating, floral arrangement, making jewelry, spending time with family and friends, and helping others in any way in which she could be of service.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Robert Clairborne Cobb
Robert Clairborne Cobb died peacefully at home on April 1, 2013. Born in Petersburg, VA in 1935 he was a graduate of Richmond Professional Institute and was involved in the advertising field in Washington, D.C. His parents John Allen and Evelyn Clarinne Brockwell Cobb preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Donna and beloved granddaughter Ashleigh of Tappahannock and son Phillip Allen Cobb of Edgewood, MD. A private service is planned at Arlington National Cemetery. Many thanks to his doctors, Riverside Home Health and Hospice, dear friends and church members for their care and support. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Saint John’s Episcopal, Tappahannock or Aylett Country Day School.
Bertrum Winstead Williams
Bertrum Winstead Williams Jr., 56, of Callao, passed away on Saturday May 4, 2013. He was a retired electrician. He was a member of Henderson United Methodist Church, Callao.
He is preceded in death by his father, Bertrum “Bert” W. Williams Sr.
He is survived by two sons, Justin Gorman and Ryan T. Gorman, both of Wisconsin; two daughters, Crystal A. Williams of West Virginia, and Sarah R. Williams of Wisconsin; his mother, Margaret C. Williams; one sister, Patricia W. Childress of Frog Level, Virginia, and one grand-daughter, Ryleigh Williams.
A funeral service was held May 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Heathsville. Burial followed at Bethany Baptist Church, in Callao.

William R. “Bill” Waldhof
William R. “Bill” Waldhof, 70, husband of Phyllis Waldhof, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 1, 2013. He is survived by his sister, Maureen Neustel and her husband, Gary; brother-in-law, Paul Razza and wife, Carol; sister-in-law, Margaret Amato and her husband, Joseph and sister-in-law, Francesca Babinski and her husband, Michael. He will be greatly missed by his two nieces, five nephews, three grand nieces and 12 grand nephews.
Bill has been a Callao resident for 31 years, a retired school bus driver and former administrator of the Callao Moose Lodge #917, of which he was a member for 31 years; avid crabber, fisherman and boater. His extended family included many members of the Callao Moose Lodge, and friends and neighbors of the Callao Community.
The family received friends Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Jones-Ash Funeral Home. A funeral service followed at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be mad to the scholarship fund being established in his name at Coan Baptist Church, Heathsville or to the American Heart Association.

Mary R. Brogden
Mary R. Brogden, 105, of Kilmarnock passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, the widow of J. Ronald Brogden and the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. William S. Reoch. She graduated from the Katherine Gibbs School, Providence, Rhode Island. She and her husband bought and operated the Douglas Braid Company in Coventry, RI. She was the executive secretary of Rocky Hill School in East Greenwich, RI. At the age of 60, she owned and operated the Lafayette Fabric Store in North Kingstown, RI until she retired. Mrs. Brogden was an honorary member of the Kingstown Garden Club. She is survived by two sons, William and his wife, Nancy, of Newburyport, Massachusetts and Douglas and his wife Bobby of Wicomico Church, Virginia. She leaves seven granddaughters and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riverpoint Congregational Church, 75, Providence Street, West Warwick, Rhode Island, 02893. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Rhode Island. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, West Warwick, RI.

Peggy Ann Mathews
Peggy Ann Mathews, 74 of Callao, passed away on May 3 in Richmond, Va.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy, daughter Sherry Marie Clark, son Billy Mathews (Sandy), daughter Susan Ann Fredo (Gary), three brothers, five sisters, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Sons Thomas Edward and Charles Ward preceded her in death.
Peggy and her loving husband spent 58 years in wedded harmony.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held at Henderson United Methodist Church in Callao at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 11.

Nellie M. Jenkins
Nellie M. Jenkins, 100, of Reedville passed away May 2, 2013.
She was the widow of Carroll E. Jenkins. She is survived by her two sons, William H. Jenkins and wife, Judy and Robert E. Jenkins and wife, Sandra; four grandchildren, Sandy Basye and husband, Rob, Terry Reese, Rob Jenkins and wife, Wendy and Kristie Bryant and husband, Mike; 10 great-grandchildren.
Nellie was a member of Tibitha Church of God in Reedville. She had been a resident of Farnham Manor since Dec. 2011.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 5, at Tibitha Church of God with burial following at Roseland Cemetery, Reedville.

Irving A. “Tootsie” Withers
Irving A. “Tootsie” Withers, Jr., 72, of Callao passed away April 29, 2013. He was the retired owner and logger of Withers Logging Company, Callao and a member of Henderson United Methodist Church, Callao.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Glenn C. Withers and Irving A. Withers, Sr., and one brother, Maynard D. Withers.
He is survived by one daughter, Teresa W. Lewis and her husband, Jimmy of Haynesville; three sons, Dennis M. “Mitch” Withers and his wife, Paige of Warsaw, Rodney D. Withers of Farnham and Elbert A. “Tony” Withers of Farnham; brothers, Robert J. Withers, Mervin C. Withers and his wife Edith and Norman L. Withers and his wife, Linda; sisters, Elsie W. Newsome and her husband, Bucky, Peggy W. Lawrence and her husband, Ed, Nancy W. Wood and her husband, Ray, Janice W. Bashore and her husband, Gary, Mary Dean Withers and Martha Lynn Withers; nine grandchildren, Brandon Withers, Garrett Withers, Lorrie Stokes, Anthony Withers, Shane Withers, Brandi Davis, Jesse Gordon Jr., Dawn Gordon and Jason Lewis; six great-grandchildren, Amanda Stokes, R.J. Stokes, Aleigha Withers, Ara Withers, Eric Taylor Jr. and Abby Shelton; numerous nieces and nephews, with nephews who served as honorary pallbearers in the service, and a close friend, Jimmy Barnes.
