Flossie Louise Sullivan Dortzbach
Flossie Louise Sullivan Dortzbach, 82, of Lancaster passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 24, 2013. She was born in Remo, Va. on November 16, 1930 to James Albert Sullivan, Sr. and Lucy Jane Rowe Sullivan. She was the widow of John Wesley Taft to whom she was married for 35 years and Charles Frederick Dortzbach to whom she was married for 4 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Paulette Taft Patterson of Harrisburg, Pa. and Carolyn Taft Headley of Lancaster.; five grandsons; one granddaughter; four great grandchildren; a great- great grandson; a sister, Ruby Ann Sullivan Coates of Plano, Texas; a brother, Frank Mitchell Sullivan of Warsaw and many nieces and nephews along with a family of friends who will miss her greatly. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Albert Sullivan, Jr. and her sister, Dorothy Sullivan Sheppard.
She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church for 65 years. Flossie was very active with the Bethel United Methodist Women, she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir for many years, was President of the You & I Class and was Chairman of the Flower Committee for more than 20 years. She also volunteered at Rappahannock General Hospital for 12 years.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 27 at Bethel United Methodist Church, Lively. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Frances Virginia Vanlandingham Stevens
Frances Virginia Vanlandingham Stevens, 91, of Callao passed away August 24, 2013. She was a member of Henderson United Methodist Church, Callao.
She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 73 years, Millard Stuart Stevens Sr.; her parents, Joel and Annie Vanlandingham; one sister, Nellie Pearl V. Hinson and brothers, Morgan Elijah Vanlandingham and James Allen Vanlandingham;
She is survived by her son, Millard Stuart Stevens Jr. and his wife Darlene of Heathsville; her daughter, Virginia Ann George of Mechanicsville; four grandchildren, Roy Carroll Stevens and wife Gladys, Sidney Wade George of Bruington, Michael Edward George, of Mechanicsville and Paul Keith George of Mechanicsville; one step-granddaughter, Taylor Clark; four great-grandchildren, Virginia Stevens, Candice Stevens, Caleb George and Jamie George; one step-great-grandson, Aiden Ramsey and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on August 27, 2013 at Jones-Ash Funeral Home, Heathsville. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Henderson United Methodist Church, Callao. John Patrick Ryan
John Patrick Ryan of Heathsville, Virginia, died August 16, 2013. He was born on August 3, 1932 in San Pedro, California, son of Francis Ryan and Vera France Ryan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jean Ryan; son, Timothy Ryan; daughter, Cathy Durr; step-daughters, Kimberley Parker and Wendy Tucker; grandchildren, Kayla Durr, Haley Inskeep, Josh Inskeep, Brent Parker, Brooke Parker, Mark Tucker and Emma Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two brothers, Edward and James Ryan; sister, Mary Brietling and first wife, Joanne Ryan.
John was a dedicated 20-year U. S. Air Force veteran who served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After his Air Force service he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration in the Office of Security and Office of Aviation Safety Oversight.
A memorial service was held August 27, 2013 at the Currie Funeral Home. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Timothy Wayne Sanders
Timothy Wayne Sanders, 28, of Montross, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013. He is survived by his parents, Wayne Sanders (Janet) and Charlene Duljac (Steve; daughters, Addison and Skylar Sanders and brother, Wayne Sanders, Jr. (Meredith).
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Rappahannock Baptist Church .
Reverend Willard Bowen and Reverend David Johnson officiated. Interment was in Rappahannock Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robby Nash, Robert Berry, Robert Bowen, Sam Packett, William Bowen, Jimmy Nash, Daniel Rose and Douglas Shepherd. Nathan Worrell was honorary pallbearer.
