Frances Marchant Baker
Frances Miriam Marchant Baker, 93, widow of Alvin E. Baker, died Saturday July 17, 2010, at Farnham Manor.
She was born April 8, 1917, in Kinsale to William Bartlett "Cap'n Bill" Marchant and Frances Myrtle Hudson Marchant.
Surviving are a daughter, Frances Suzanne van der Valk and her husband, Ubbo, of Highland, Md.; her sons, David English Baker and his wife, Catney, of Fairfax Station, and Edward Bartlett Baker and his wife, Paige, of Colonial Beach; two grandchildren; stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Jacqueline Reamy Curtis of Colonial Beach.
Frances was preceded in death by her brother, William Bartlett Marchant, and sister Malinda Marchant Brown.
Funeral services were held July 22 at Colonial Beach United Methodist Church. Interment followed in Round Hill Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Beach UMC, Box 189, Colonial Beach, Va. 22443.

Chester Lee Ball
Chester Lee "Chest" Ball, was born to Delores and Horace Ball, Sr. on July 25, 1954 in Sharps.
Five days before his 56th Birthday, Chester died peacefully under his mother's care at home.
For many years, Chester worked in Washington, DC in construction and had many other jobs thereafter.
Survivors include his mother, Delores Ball; a son, Dwayne Pinn (Mandy) of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Lyric and Liberty Pinn; two brothers, Horace Ball, Jr. and Alvin Ball; five nephews; six nieces; 11 great-nephews; eight great-nieces; two aunts, Berthaine Shelton and Elizabeth Shelton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held July 25, at Mt Zion Baptist Church. Interment services were held at the church cemetery. Services of Comfort and Trust entrusted to the Berry O. Waddy Funeral Home.
Richard Lewis Casey
Richard Lewis Casey died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at his Washington, D.C. home. He was born June 29, 1943 to James and Emma Casey and grew up in Westmoreland County, affectionately raised by Pinkie and Raymond Iler, his foster parents.
He was employed with the Metropolitan Transportation Service, and was president of the D.C. Housing Authority Redroot Apartment.
He is survived by his foster father, Deacon Raymond Iler; a brother, Lee Roy Casey; a sister, Roberta Peyton, and other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. His special friend and caregiver, Eleni Getachew and dear friend Jackie Hargraves.
Funeral services were held July 15 at Macedonia Baptist Church, Colonial Beach. Interment was held July 16 at Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico.

Revelle Foster Fauntleroy
Revelle Foster Fauntleroy died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Revelle was born October 31, 1959 in Warsaw to Albert Cox and Annie Mae Gray.
He was educated in Richmond County schools and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Warsaw. He was a janitor for Richmond County Public Schools for 10 years. After his tenure there, he moved on doing other janitorial jobs.
Surviving are two brothers, James "Bo Bo" Gray of Warsaw, Michael (Patricia) of Tappahanock; three sisters, Barbara Jean Gray of Hampton, Sandy (Keith) and Veronica "Ronnie" of Warsaw; five nephews; four nieces; three great-nephews; one great-niece; one aunt and a host of family and friends too numerous to name.
Funeral services were held July 22, at Second Baptist Church. Interment services were held at the church cemetery.

Sherman A. Fauntleroy
Sherman A. Fauntleroy died July 1, 2010. He was born April 23, 1944, to Hampton Fauntleroy Sr. and Mary Fauntleroy in Westmoreland County.
On May 4, 1996 Sherman married Diane Cummings.
Sherman was predeceased by his father, Hampton Fauntleroy Sr., and brother, Hampton Fauntleroy Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Diane Fauntleroy; mother, Mary Fauntleroy; eight children and 12 grandchildren; his siblings, Lillian C. Brooks, Annette Henry, Joyce A. Campbell, Rosemary Wilson, Maude Campbell, Linda Coleman, Robert T., Albert, Louis C. James Sr., Lonnie W., Sylvester, and Preston Fauntleroy; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Reverend Robert Edwin Hipple
Reverend Robert Edwin Hipple Jr., 61, of Stephens Church, died on July 24. Reverend Hipple was an associate pastor and youth pastor with First Baptist Church Harmony Village, Locust Hill. He served during the Vietnam War with the USAF.
He was preceded by his father, Robert Edwin Hipple, his mother, Annie Mae Hipple Babin, and his sister, Annie May Parker. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Hipple, step-father, William Babin of Virginia Beach, three sisters, Gwendolyn Daughtrey of Moyock, N.C., Sharon Koski of Houston, Texas, and Deborah Marshall of Richmond, three daughters, Alice Nastasi of King William, Anita Chapman of Manassas, Michele Hollowell of Waterview, Son, Frank Evans of Carriere, Miss. and granddaughter Brandy Hollowell, of Saluda.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in First Baptist Church Harmony Village, in Locust Hill, Va.

Collin Devon Johnson
Collin Devon Johnson was given to us on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 11:47 a.m. at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center by His Almighty Hands, but was taken from us in the same day to live in God's house with the angels of Heaven. He weighed 11.2 oz. and was 10 inches long. He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Walter and Catherine Turner; great-grandfather, William Kelly; great-grandmother, Christine Gaskins and cousin Darrius Taylor.
He leaves behind a loving family that will never forget the joy he brought to them while awaiting his arrival. His parents Jamicia Garner and Reagan Johnson, brother, Jeremiah Williams of Silver Spring, Md.; maternal grandparents, Avery and Billie Jo Garner of Hague; paternal grandparents, Robert and Deloris Johnson of Kinsale; five aunts; four uncles; and many other family members and friends.
A graveside service was held July 19 at Potomac Baptist Church, Hague. Minister Karen Turner officiated.

James Edward Newton Sr.
James Edward Newton Sr. died July 12, 2010 at his Mt. Holly home. He was born April 21, 1927 in Westmoreland County, the third child of J. Richard Newton and Viola Scott Newton.
James graduated from A. T. Johnson High School in June 1945. He was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church.
He moved to Philadelphia, Pa. where he met and married Katherine Jones Carey.
After 15 years, James returned with his family to Westmoreland County. He was employed at Bushfield Golf Company as Manager.
James was a dedicated member of the St. Johns Masonic Lodge #11, Montross and a Mason for over 60 years reaching the 33rd Degree.
Surviving are four sons, Arnold, Howard (Wanda), James Jr. (Brenda) and Phillip; one daughter, Lucy (Joe); four sisters, Mattie, Hazel (Louis), Florine, and Helen; one brother, Lucius (Mary); one adopted brother, Vincent Morrison; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one niece; five nephews; one sister-in-law, and numerous other family members, friends.
Funeral services were held July 17 at Salem Baptist Church, Mt. Holly. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Christopher Lee Oliff
Christopher Lee Oliff, 28, of Milford died, Wednesday, July 21, 2010.
Chris had been a stocker for Food Lion in Heathsville, until he became disabled.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda Deardorff Oliff; his father, Lee Oliff of Heathsville and his mother, Kathy Oliff of Callao; a brother, Jon Mark Oliff of Callao; and his grandmother, Elizabeth Headley of Heathsville.
A funeral service was held July 24, in the chapel of Storke Funeral Home. Burial followed in Lakewood Cemetery.
Garland Lee Packett
Garland Lee Packett, 80, of Warsaw died on Tuesday, July 20. He was preceded in death by wife, Melba Haislope Packett and son, Garland Wayne Packett. Mr. Packett was a member of Cobham Park Baptist Church, Warsaw and retired former owner of Callao Wheel Service and Packett's Alignment Service in Richmond for 20 years. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a lifetime member of the Northern Neck VFW Post # 7167 in Warsaw. Mr. Packett was a member of Warsaw-Baumann Lodge # 332 A.F. and A.M. and Acca Temple Shrine.
Surviving and a daughter, Patricia P. Beasley of Warsaw; a brother, Lawrence H. Packett, Sr. of Tappahannock.
Funeral services and Masonic Rites were held, July 23 at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock with Rev. Donald Bowen officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Kilmarnock.

Marvin Abbalum Pierce Sr.
Marvin Abbalum Pierce Sr. died Wednesday, July 7, 2010. The son of Raymond A. and Hazel B. Pierce, was born in Neenah on Oct. 5, 1943. He was an active member of Galilee Baptist Church, Montross and graduated from A. T. Johnson High School, Templemans in 1962. Marvin held various management positions after graduating from the Federal City College with a B.S. degree. He retired from the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
Surviving are two sons, Marvin Jr. of Clinton, Md. (Angelique) and Graison of King George; mother, Deaconess Hazel B. Pierce of Montross; one sister, Joan Smith of Fort Washington, Md.; one brother, Leary of Virginia Beach; four granddaughters; two grandsons; three aunts; one uncle; one niece; three nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held July 10 at Galilee Baptist Church, Montross. Interment was at Potomac Baptist Church cemetery.

Aneta Barker Stevenson
Mrs. Aneta Barker Stevenson, 61, of Tappahannock died Tuesday, July 20. She was employed with Warsaw Health Care for 21 years. Aneta is survived by her husband, James J. Stevenson; two children, Deborah Lee of Tappahannock and Jimmy Stevenson of Glen Allen; two grandsons. Funeral services were July 24, in the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock Interment followed in the Essex Cemetery.
Hilda M. Self
Hilda M. Self, 81, of Warsaw, widow of Andrew Baine Self, died July 8, 2010. She was a retired seamstress from Levi Strauss and a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four sons, Kenneth Allen Self (Shirley) of Kinsale and Harden Baine Self (Sharon) of Warsaw, Larry Mahan of Alabama and Billy Mahan of Richmond; daughter, Joyce of California; brothers, Harold Childs (Ella) of Warsaw, and Albert Childs of King George; sisters, Laura Cole of King George, Eldeen Smith of Mechanicsville, Elizabeth Swann and Nancy Prescott of Callao, Betty Whittaker of Lottsburg, Shirley Barrack of Farnham and Barbara Parker of Tappahannock; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann Self and five brothers, Benjamin Childs, Robert Childs, George Childs, Donald Childs and Ronald Childs.

Jasmine Monique Smith
Jasmine Monique "Jazz" Smith, was born May 30, 1991 in Fairfax, to Coletha Ball and Darryl Smith. She died Sunday, July 18, 2010.
Jasmine was a 2009 graduate of Rappahannock High School and was employed with KFC in Tappahannock and for Visiting Angels in Kilmarnock.
Surviving are her mother, Coletha Ball; brothers, Kevin Ball, Shaunel Ball, and Shaquan Ball; sister, Harmony Smith; grandmothers, Mary Alice Veney and Evelyn Smith; five aunts; three uncles; six great-aunts; five great-uncles; her niece, Angelique Ball and nephew, Keoni Ball; and a host of special cousins and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her father; her maternal grandfather, Freddie Veney and paternal grandfather Nathan Smith; her aunts and uncles, Alvin Ball, Karen Smith, Helen Ball and Steven Hicks.
Funeral services were held July 24, at Rappahannock High School. Interment services were held at Mulberry Baptist Church, Emmerton.

Cora Clark Turner
Cora Clark Turner died Saturday, July 10, 2010. She was born Nov. 28, 1938.
She married her sweetheart, Thomas Turner on Dec. 22, 1962. She was a cook at Lowery's Restaurant, Roma's and KFC where she enjoyed socializing with the customers.
Cora was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Edna Nelson Clark; father, William H. Clark; daughter, Nina Francis; brother, William H. Clark Jr.; sister, Edna Mae Carey (William Carey);one nephew; two nieces. Surviving are her husband, Thomas; her sister, Mary Elizabeth Clark Lewis; children; niece, Naomi Elizabeth Clark (Donald); great-great-nephews, Ervin David Gray and Timothy O'Neal Brown III; niece, Mary Louise Payne (Bernard); nephews, James Leroy Carey (Susie), Robert Carey (Leatha), Leonard Carey (Charlie) and Richard Carey (Lisa); five sisters-in-law, numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and friends.

Millard Filmore Wilkins
Millard Filmore Wilkins, 85, of Village, died July 20. He was a member of Henderson United Methodist Church, Callao, and retired from NSWC,DD after 20 years of service. Millard was a World War II Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine M. Wilkins, rwo daughters, Mildred A. Fulford of Rainswood, , and Faye W. Burnett and husband Danny of Callao, , Son, Charles "Chuck" A. Wilkins and wife Tammy of Callao, sister, Allene Rosa Johnson of Texas, brother, Julian Ira Wilkins of Maryland, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter.
