House Bill 513, patroned by Del. Rick Morris (R-Carrolton) that would have given powers to the governing bodies of a locality, including the county board of supervisors, to remove from office any person in an appointed position died a very quiet death on the sub-committee floor after not being seconded last week.

HB1173, which includes language excluding landowners in districts without municipal stromwater drainage and sewer systems from paying fees, which will instead be absorbed by the DEQ, will go to its third reading and is expected to pass on Wednesday.

The Warsaw Utility Committee unanimously voted last week to recommend that town council continue reductions in water and sewer availability fees which were due to expire on March 14, 2014.

The Warsaw Utility Committee also unanimously recommended that all water and sewer users should be paying for the fixed costs of the system, whether connected or disconnected, to cover operating expenses. The matters will me addressed by town council on Feb, 13, 7 p.m. at town hall.

Last Tuesday, the Virginia House of Delegates, by a 71-27 vote, passed HB1237, which allows hunting on Sundays under certain circumstances with permission from property owners. As of press time, the bill is on the Senate floor for consideration.
