Richmond County Public Schools will start the school year with 11 new teachers. The new teachers will begin their class time on August 20 while veteran teachers have until the 24th before they start hearing that early morning buzz of the alarm clock. Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith had this to say about the shortage of teachers, “It is difficult to fill the vacancy with a solid, licensed, professional individual. Richmond County has much to offer new and veteran teachers. We are a fully accredited school, not only in the old Department of Education rating system, but in the new system as well.” The school system was rated the eighteenth best school out of 131 schools and the seventh safest school district out of 131 schools according to the 2019 Niche Rankings.
