Posted on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 3:09 pm

The breakfast whistle sounds at 5 a.m. as the crew gets ready for another day in the fishing industry in Reedville.

The First Mate usually gets the day going by slowly backing the 210 foot vessel away from the dock around 12:30 a.m. and head out to the Bay. The 16-man crew is preparing for a long day of fishing.

At 10 a.m. the lunch whistle blows and the men begin gathering in the galley to refuel for the afternoon workload.

At 3 p.m. the crew prepares for the dinner bell unless they are in the middle of catching fish.

Captain Tom Moore has been at the helm for the last 12 years and has been with Omega Protein for 29 years. Moore started as a fisherman trainee in 1993. He worked his way up through the ranks over the years and now Captain’s the Tidelands.
