The Rappahannock Lady Raiders varsity basketball team went on the road for two wins against the Mathews Lady Blue Devils on Monday, January 28, and the Essex Lady Trojans on Wednesday January 30. They avenged an earlier loss to the Lady Blue Devils with an outstanding defensive game. The Lady Raiders went ahead (14-11) at the end of the first period. They held the home team to one made basket and four points in the second to be up (29-15) at the half. Another strong defensive effort in the third had the Lady Raiders up (48-19) with one quarter to play. With a continuous clock in the fourth and the starters sitting they still only allowed the home team to score one-point to win (50-20). Savannah Goodman had 16pts, Rilee Baughan 13, Dayona Jackson 8, Natasia Fauntleroy 7, Jasmine Kelly, Maddie Baughan, and Demeriah Holmes 2pts. Against the Lady Trojans the Lady Raiders were first on the scoreboard (2-0) but they were down (4-9) with 5:11 left in the first period.
