The Lady Raiders were on the road versus the Lady Trojans on April 24. The bottom of the Lady Raiders line-up was able to manufacture two runs in the top of the second inning on a walk, fielder’s choice, and a double by Hailee Green. Hallie Berger was in the circle for the Lady Raiders with her strong up the middle defense bonded by shortstop Rhiannon and her twin sister second base Brandi Mulvena. The Mulvena twins have been playing competitive softball since they were seven years old. “We know each other better and have more trust in each other’s abilities because we’ve grown up together” said Brandi. “For a ball to get between us it has to be a good shot, because we know each other’s strengths and weaknesses” stated Rhiannon. The Lady Raiders scored once in the third and an insurance run in the seventh to give them a 4-2 lead. Arleigh Wood and the Lady Trojans defense kept the game close by getting out of players on base scenarios. They got on the scoreboard in the six with two runs. There was still an opportunity to get a victory in the seventh when their first batter Emily Broache reached base. The next three batters got out, so the threat of a rally was cut short The Lady Raiders won 4-2.
