Lady Raiders getting into the swing

The Rappahannock Lady Raiders varsity softball team defeated the Middlesex Lady Chargers on Tuesday, March 19. Freshman pitcher Mackenzie Cauthorn threw a no hitter and had 8 K’s in five innings for the win. The Lady Raiders sprayed 11 hits in the (16-0) victory; they scored 1 run in the second inning, 6 runs in the third, and 9 runs in the fourth. Rilee Baughan went 2 for 4 with a homerun in the fourth to drive in 4 runs, Elizabeth Norris and Grace Minor 2 hits and 2 rbi’s, Regan Allen 1 hit, 3 rbi’s, and scored 3 runs, Savannah Goodman 2 hits and 1 rbi, Anna Lewis 1 hit and 1 rbi and Ella Campbell had 1 rbi and scored 2 runs. Head Coach Ellen Gaines said, “We are very talented top to bottom. We have to put the players in the right positions to make it work for us. Going to State and winning has to be a goal; we have to work just as hard as we did last year.
