The long-running basketball camp for children and young adults of the community makes its return this summer for the 23rd year in Northumberland County!
Established in 1991 by Michael Stevenson, Eric Jones and Bryan Shabazz, idea behind Prime Tyme Basektball Camp was to develop a reasonably priced, accessible, and a high-quality basketball camp for kids in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.
“At that point [23 years ago], there wasn’t a basketball camp locally, and of course basketball camps were $200, $250 and a lot of our kids at that particular time couldn’t afford that type of experience like going to the University of Virginia or some place like that,” said Stevenson, who is currently co-athletic director at Northumberland High School. “But we wanted our kids to have the same type of experience.”
