Tucked into a corner of the Richmond County Public Library at Rappahannock Community College, you’ll find a wealth of local and state history from some of our region’s earliest accounts to modern high school yearbooks.
“You’ll find a variety of material all pertaining to the history of Virginia,” Linda Taylor, RCPL library specialist, said.
“Books with titles like “Land Grants of the Northern Neck” which contains records from the 1700s or “Marriages of Richmond County: 1668-1853” can be helpful for history buffs or those trying to create a family history.
With Civil War rosters, indexes to historic census data, and donated genealogy records, there are treasures to be found among the records. “Someone came in looking for information on her family and we just happened to have some family records someone else had donated copies of,” Taylor said. The library would gladly accept any genealogies that people are willing to share in order to preserve them.
