Richmond County Public Library at the Rappahannock Community College (RCC) Warsaw campus has announced the online publication of 35 additional high school yearbooks from Rappahannock High School between the years 1978 and 2014. These are in addition to the 30 older yearbooks already published online from 1948 through 1977 from Warsaw High School, Richmond County High School, Farnham High School, and Rappahannock High School. Funded by local donations, plus a grant through the Library of Virginia, these yearbooks are posted online at the Internet Archive and can be reached with this shortcut address of https://tinyurl.com/rcplvaybks. These can yearbooks be searched, read, downloaded, or printed for free.
The yearbooks scanned were loaned to the library for this project by Richmond County Public Library Board of Trustees members Susan Gouldin and Valentina Veney Baylor, and by Rappahannock High School librarian Karen Gagnon. Some years are still missing. Community members who may have some of the missing years’ or missing schools’ yearbooks from Richmond County high schools should contact RCC/Richmond County librarian Dan Ream at (804)-758-6716 if interested in loaning their yearbooks for this online collection. After scanning, the yearbooks are returned to the loaners, undamaged.
Access to the yearbooks is free and their text are searchable by both names and keywords. For example, a search for “Robbins” finds the pages in the 1948 and 1949 Warsaw High School yearbooks featuring “Tommy Robbins”, who later became famous as the writer Tom Robbins.
