Warsaw Town Council passed an order officially thanking Dr. Elizabeth “Sissy” Crowther for her 15 years of service as the president of Rappahannock Community College and recognizing her life-long dedication to improving the lives of others.
Mayor Phelps described RCC as “a gem of the Northern Neck” and read a resolution that cited Crowther’s contributions, noting that under her leadership the college underwent substantial renovations and expansions and has been recognized for many endeavors, including the financial expansion of the Educational Foundation.
Crowther, who was seven days into her retirement, said she had spent the day on the tractor disking the land on her farm but had cleaned up to attend the council meeting.
“I can’t thank you enough,” she said. “I have loved every minute of being at the college. To be able to come back to the college where you are from is really an amazing thing that doesn’t happen a lot. And I couldn’t have asked for better partners. You all have been wonderful. It’s been a great relationship with the town,” she told the council.
