The congregation at Fairfields Baptist Church in Burgess is excited to announce that Pastor Nate Varnier has accepted the call to serve as Pastor.

Nate, his wife Julie, and their 5-month-old daughter Laney come to Fairfields Baptist from Claxton, Georgia, where he served as Youth and Children’s Minister at First Baptist Claxton.  Prior to serving in Georgia, Nate served as Youth and Young Adult Minister at various churches in Richmond, while attending Baptist Theological Seminary, where he graduated in May 2012.

Nate grew up in New Kent, Virginia, graduating from New Kent High School in 1997.  He enjoyed participating in football, track, and tennis while at New Kent High, and still enjoys getting out on the court. He later attended and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2001, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry.  Nate worked in the fields of Forestry and Environmental Science for eight years prior to receiving his call to ministry at the age of 30.  His parents, Rick and Pam Varnier also live in the Northern Neck, and both work for the Bank of Lancaster.  He also has a 10-year-old daughter Emma, who lives in Mount Sidney, Virginia.  She loves her travel softball, as well as her time visiting here in the Northern Neck on the Rivah.

Nate’s wife Julie grew up in Greenville, Mississippi, but later moved to Richmond, Virginia after attaining her Master’s degree at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.  Julie is a Physician Assistant and will be working for Riverside Tappahannock Hospital.  She worked at VCU Medical Center for 10 years in the Neurological Surgery Department, as well as the Pain Management field for Optim Orthopedic while they lived in Claxton, Georgia.  Julie’s heart lies in children’s ministry, as she loves to see the joy in the faces of children as the love of Christ is shared.

Nate, Julie and Laney are eager to start their life and ministry here in the Northern Neck, and truly enjoy meeting new people and sharing in fellowship with others.
