Correctional center plays flag football for families

FlagThe Haynesville Corrections Center flag football team “Chain Gang” held a Christmas benefit game versus the Richmond County YMCA team on Sunday, December 20, at the Northumberland YMCA field.

The Chain Gang team was a thought of Joselyn Chance, and he got assistance from Timothy Newton and Wesley Diggs to get the ball bouncing. They put together a team of Officers, Counselors and Support staff to challenge and play against like teams in the area to raise awareness and support less fortunate families in the surrounding ten counties.

Wesley Diggs stated, “We all love to compete, yet it’s all about helping those in need.”

When they received an invitation to play a team formed by Roger “RJ” Jones, there was no doubt there would be a game, and the winners would be the families that received the donated items. They contacted Cheryl Reamy the Community Resources Coordinator of the Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Community Services Board (MPNN CSB) Division of Community Options to sort through the gifts, food, and clothing that was contributed …
