Northumberland NAACP will be passing out the papers needed to request the return of civil rights to those convicted of felonies. @ Communty Center near Brown's Store

At the Community Center near Brown’s Store, the Northumberland NAACP will be passing out the papers needed to request the return of civil rights to those convicted of felonies. It will also be conducting voter registration.

”All You Can Eat” community breakfast @ Lancaster Union Lodge #88

The monthly ”All You Can Eat” community breakfast sponsored by Lancaster Union Lodge #88 A.F. & A.M. will be held on Saturday, March 9th from 8-10 am at the Lodge building located at 48 North Main Street in Kilmarnock. The breakfast is held the 2nd Saturday of each month and features eggs, sausage, blueberry pancakes, cheese grits, potatoes, sausage gravy, biscuits, juice and coffee. The cost is $6.00 per person (children 5 and under are free) and the public is invited. Lodge fund raisers benefit local charities including the ”Little Angels” and VA Child I.D. program.

Daylight Savings Time (DST) begins! Plan to keep the hour’s sleep by worshiping with the members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (LCMS), Callao, on “Slow Time,” at 9 am.  You’ll be welcome!  DON’T CHANGE  your clocks Saturday night; come to worship on “Slow Time,” and immediately after services everyone will move their watches ahead one hour to “Fast Time” (DST).   For more information:  Pastor Mike Ramming  804-456-6554.

Middle Peninsula African-American Genealogical and Historical Society of Virginia (MPAAGHS) will hold its monthly meeting, 11 a.m. at the Essex County Public Library, 117 North Church Lane (Rt. 17), Tappahannock. All persons who are interested in African-American genealogy and history are invited to attend. Experienced researchers and novices alike are welcome.

Corned Beef or Ham and Cabbage Dinner @ Fairfields United Methodist Church

President Wayne Lowe and Vice President Wayne Parrish, Fairfields United Methodist Church in Burgess, will be the chief cooks and bottle washers as Fairfields United Methodist Men put on a Corned Beef or Ham and Cabbage Dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. in the church social hall.  The menu will be: corned beef or ham, cabbage, potatoes, stewed tomatoes, corn bread, dessert and beverage.  Price will be “BY DONATION”.  For “Take Outs” call 453-2631.
