Canines and their owners are proud Lorien graduates

Lorien Kennels recently graduated five dog and handler teams from their Basic Manners dog training class.

In Basic Manners Class, dogs learn the basic behaviors of walking on a loose leash, the sit, the down, the stay, and coming when called. In addition, owners learn the basics about dog psychology, how to build a relationship with their dogs built on trust and leadership, how to get their dogs attention, and the basics of learning theory.  This prepares the owner to apply what they have learned to situations outside the classroom.

Lorien Kennels endorses and teaches humane, non-force methods of dog training that enhance the dog’s innate desire to enter into relationship with his handler and work as a team.  Positive and negative reinforcements, NOT punishment is used to teach! Leave the choke collars at home – and learn to build drive and motivation through communication and mutual respect.   The kennel is now accepting registrations for their first classes of 2013, when Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Manners, Advanced Manners and Reactive Rover classes will be offered.  Lorien Kennels partners with Paws for Fun Agility and indoor Agility Foundation classes are also offered.  Phone 580-5227 or 580-0071 for more information on the classes.
