The Bay School Community Arts Center is proud to present Virginia artists in its second annual juried art show at the Art Speaks Gallery at the Bay School. “Art Speaks on the Bay” will run until July 19. The show includes 84 pieces of two-dimensional and three-dimensional artists, exhibiting the works of 70 artists from across the state. 120 artists with 328 artworks entered the juried competition, presenting a diverse and inspiring collection of art in over twenty media. Jurors Chuck Scalin and Mim Golub Scalin were impressed with the excellent work entered and made an effort to include the best of all of the mediums, styles and directions submitted by the artists. At the opening reception, Chuck and Mim awarded seven cash prizes and six honorable mentions. The pair jury and judge independently and then bring their ideas together in a lively discussion to present unified choices. Chuck explained their selection process during the awards ceremony. The public is encouraged to vote for their favorite piece in the show. On July 12, the votes will be tallied and the winning artist will receive the $250 People’s Choice Award.
