A tale of two Dollars in Warsaw

Two major discount retail chain stores in Warsaw may soon be leaving their current facilities for new buildings designed to attract more customers.
It was just a few months ago that the Family Dollar, currently located at what is locally called  “the bottom,” a shopping center across from St. John’s Church in Warsaw, made plans to erect a new building at the corner of Court Circle and Route 360 in the center of town.
Last week, Warsaw Town Council members decided to put another store’s request to relocate in taxpayers’ hands in a public input session.
On March 13, council members tentatively approved plans for the Dollar General, currently located at the Food Lion shopping Center, to move across the street to the corner of Sabine Hall Road and Route 360, across from People’s Community Bank and near Warsaw Small Engines.
The proposed facility is a stand-alone building, with ample parking and square footage to house a top-of-the line store in a highly visible location.
Both stores would be located in prime areas to attract new customers while also updating their facades to make them more pleasing to the eye and in line with goals that civic groups have for the town.
Council unanimously decided to send the Dollar General’s proposal and site plan, which is available to the interested citizens at town hall, to a public hearing on April 10, at 7 p.m.
