The Lancaster by the Bay Chamber of Commerce held their signature event of the year at the Tides Inn in Irvington on Saturday, November 17. “Taste by the Bay” included wine tasting, sample foods, a cidery, and other attractions. The event sold out for its third straight year with 1200 tickets purchased.
The weather turned out to be perfect for the event as people moved around the glamorous resort and enjoyed the views and everything the site had to offer which included live entertainment.
There were eight craft breweries on-hand with samples and many artisan vendors. “This is our sixth year and we’re really thrilled,” said event coordinator Anne Paparella. “This is all about local businesses and Virginia businesses. The first thing we do is open it up to our Chamber members. We want our members to have the chance to participate,” Paparella said. “We have stores that display their shops, the local wineries and then we just branch out from there. It’s just a wonderful event.”
The event has grown so popular over the last six years that people are coming from all over the state to experience “Taste by the Bay.”
Attendees got a free wine glass and roamed from area to area sampling all the different beverages, food samples, and even unique sauces that were available. “The people get to come to the most beautiful place which really doesn’t feel like people have access to until events like this,” Paparella said. “You can sit around, meet people, sip wine by the glass, or you can buy it by the bottle after you do all your tasting. It’s just a wonderful day wandering around one of the most beautiful places in the Northern Neck and just enjoy the beautiful day.”
