James Calloway (Cal) Bowdler

Basketball

As a 6’10″ senior at Old Dominion University, Bowdler was named first-team All-CAA after leading the conference in rebounding and blocked shots for the second straight year. He surpassed the 1,000 career point mark in a first round NIT win over Seton Hall, hauling in a career-high 20 rebounds.

He became just the second ODU player ever drafted n the first round. He made his NBA debut, for the Atlanta Hawks, against the Washington Wizards on 11/2/99. He was a part of the Hawks team for three years.

Bowdler finished his career, playing three years overseas in Italy. During that time he also was a member of the Irish National basketball team.

 

 

Joanne Alston Webb-Fary

Track & Field – Basketball

Joanne was All District, All Region and All State for two years and set three high school records: 800 meter, 1600 meter and High Jump record of 4’11″ that still stands. As Coach she led Lancaster High School’s Cross Country team to their first ever state berth, and in track she led the girls to the District Crown in 1995 and boys to District and Region Championship in 2004 and 2005. She also coached girls JV basketball to two District Championships. She also served as Athletic Director at Lancaster Middle School.

 

 

John D. Rice Sr.

Softball

John is considered by many to be the best fast pitch Pitcher in the Northern Neck; he won 152 games with the Legendary Texacos including five no-hitters, 27 shutouts, 35 consecutive scoreless innings and 1,143 strikeouts. He was named Most Valuable All Time Texaco Player by his teammates. This does not include games pitched for three other teams because no records were kept.
