Heathsville will celebrate the ancient tradition of the Easter Vigil with a procession through the town. This centuries-old tradition begins with the “Service of Light” a kindling of fire and the lighting of a candle on the evening before Easter Sunday. After 29 years in ministry, and 26 of those years in the same Warsaw church, I’ve preached a lot of Easter sermons, and presided over 26 Northern Neck Sunrise services. I’ve stopped trying to be “new” and “original” on the resurrection Sunday. After all, the Bible devotes precious few words regarding the Easter narrative. The series will be presented on first Mondays in February, March, April and May at Festival Halle, 177 Main Street, Reedville.
