In memory of a star athlete

A ceremony was recently held in Essex County for Arthur Bundy, a former student athlete who passed away this past summer.  Arthur’s family was presented with the #20 baseball jersey to serve as recognition for Arthur’s contributions to the 1999 Essex High School state championship  baseball team.     The Rappahannock varsity baseball team wrote a 15-win season into the books this past Thursday, May 14, when they closed the door on Northumberland to win 5-3. “This was probably our best defensive effort of the year,” Rappahannock head coach Jim Bieger said Friday. “Our outfield was awesome.” The Raiders’ outfield’s play was highlighted by a diving catch along the fence by Brennan King.     A no-hitter was in the making. Rappahannock’s Kathryn Morris and the Raiders defense prevented the Northumberland varsity softball team from getting on base for six straight innings.
