Raiders keep ahead with more wins The Rappahannock Raiders Varsity Baseball team held onto first place in the Northern Neck District with an undefeated week. On Monday the Raiders defeated Washington and Lee 6-2, and finished the week with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Essex. “It is completely in our hands,” said Rappahannock coach Larry Barker, “We don’t have to rely on anyone else. We just need to keep winning.”
As the soccer season winds down, the teams from the Northern Neck District begin preparations for the district and state tournaments. On May 6, the Northumberland girls squared off against King William in a non-district matchup. The Essex girls took on Christchurch May 10 in another non-district game. The lady Trojans played the first half flat and allowed the physical play of Christchurch to dictate the flow of the game.
