The Rappahannock Raiders Varsity football team was home for their season opener versus the West Point Pointers on Friday, September 5. The game and season were off to a good start when Marcus Byrd took the opening hand off 51 yards up the right sideline for a touchdown.     Essex High School hosted tri-school cross country boys and girls meet with Mathews and Washington and Lee on Wednesday, September 3. Cross country is a team and individual event that’s run over natural terrain.
