    Kinston Carson made an early statement in the second inning by pitching a three-up, three-down inning on three strikeouts.

    Jenna Whelan was all smiles Tuesday as she had a single and
an RBI at the plate and gave up only one hit at the mound.

    Jenna Whelan threw a one-hitter and Rachel Douglas smashed a three-run, inside-the-park homerun as the Rappahannock Raiders defeated the visiting Lancaster Red Devils, 12-0, in the opening round of the Northern Neck District softball tournament on Tuesday. Whelan carried a no-hitter into the fifth and final frame, facing only three batters per inning until Lancaster’s Kelley Montgomery singled to center with one out.
