Success for Inasmuch
Approximately 34 churches from Essex came together for Operation Inasmuch.
Churches from around Essex County came together Saturday for Operation Inasmuch, a day of community service and fellowship. Approximately 34 churches from Essex County were represented, all sponsored by Essex Churches Together – ECT. The event gets its name from Matthew 25:40 – “Truly, I say to you inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.”
Tappahannock Memorial United Methodist Church was a busy place Saturday as volunteers prepared items for new and expectant mothers, baked cookies, and prepared other needed items.
The event kicked off at St. Margaret’s School where the approximately 600 volunteers gathered before embarking on their various assignments that ranged from carpentry and roofing jobs, to landscaping, car washing, food collection, Bible distribution, and prayer leadership.
At Wal-Mart, volunteers collected donations for food. They were led in prayer by Pastor Chuck Haley, right, of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Dunbrooke.
Essex Sheriff Stanley Clarke led a follow-up service on Sunday in the St. Margaret’s gym where participants celebrated the event and recognized participants.
