Taylor, Colding, Gould named top district players

On Feb. 15, the Northern Neck All-District Basketball Team selections were announced following the district tournament girls and boys finals. Leading the awards are Lancaster junior Shamerah Taylor as the district girls’ player of the year, and Lancaster senior Tyler Colding and junior Montie Gould sharing the district boys’ co-players of the year award. Along with the three, Essex’s girls coach ShaVohn Curley and Colonial Beach’s boys coach Jonathan Parker were named coaches of the year.

Colding and Gould join Washington & Lee sophomore Treshaun Brown, Rappahannock junior Tevin Fisher, Essex senior Alonzo Tompkins and Northumberland senior Aaron Lewis on the district’s first team. They are joined by second team members junior Ricky Gibson of Lancaster, Colonial Beach’s Keane Foster, Northumberland senior Kyle Elmore and Washington & Lee’s Jeremy Turner.

Taylor joins the all district first team with Essex sophomore ZeNya Butler, Colonial Beach senior Karley Inscoe, Northumberland senior Nia Jones and Rappahannock sophomore Selene Epps. On the all district second team are Washington & Lee senior Jaid White, Lancaster juniors Sharda Beane and Anesha White, Essex sophomore Kiara Williams and Colonial Beach senior Caneishia Fulcher.

The following students were named to the Northern Neck All-Academic Teams Boys—Colonial Beach’s Kamron Smith, Montie Gould and L.J. West; Essex’s Alex and Drew Balderson; Lancaster’s Kedrick Lee; Northumberland’s Bryce Johnson; Rappahannock’s Eamonn Collins and Washington & Lee’s Jeremy Turner, Terrin Dickerson and Milan Bullock. Girls—Colonial Beach’s Kora Herrod, Emily Parks, Meghan Seaman and McKenzie Conway; Essex’s Victoria Boone, Lindsey Saunders, Dionshe Nelson; Lancaster’s Anesha White, Lauren James and Trenae Henderson; Northumberland’s Mary Kathyrn Hall and Katie Crowther; Rappahannock’s Selene Epps, Lasheonia Smith, Kelsey Berhalter and Keshawna Veney; and Washington & Lee’s Jaid White, Alexis Tate, Yshina Johnson and Alexis Washington.
