On Dec. 5, members of the Rappahannock High School Softball Team celebrated their first step in relocating to their new field before the start of their season.
According to the proposed scope of the additions and renovations list, the softball field will relocate near the former Little League Park near Walnut Street in Warsaw. The field is expected to be prepared before the start of the upcoming season with more seating for the public and a raised press box behind home plate. The proposed scope points out that an irrigation system will also be installed to avoid damage from the summer heat.
This will be the first field constructed to join a high school athletic fields complex, according to the scope list.
The existing field will later be replaced by additions onto the high school such as an auditorium, new gymnasium and classrooms.
