Good start for boys team
Ladies struggle in opener
Mixed results were shared on opening night for Rappahannock Girls and Boys Basketball Teams last Thursday on the road. On Nov. 29, Rappahannock Boys Teams won their season opener at Mathews while the girls’ teams fell to same school at home.
In boys’ action, the varsity team won 67-56 led by Rappahannock’s Tylek Sorrell scoring 15 points followed by Marcus Byrd with 12. Jaquan Thompson chipped in with 11 points, Kelvonte Ellis with nine, DeShawn Thompson and Eamonn Collins each with seven and Tevin Fisher with six. The JV team also won 32-28.
In girls’ action, the defending champs fell to Mathews 46-36. The leading scorer for Rappahannock was Selene Epps with 16 points followed by Lasheonia Smith with nine. Rhiannon Mulvena chipped in with four points followed by added Keshawna Veney and Ashley Towles each adding three.
