The Mary Ball Washington Museum in Lancaster Courthouse will hold a free Open House and Gift Shop Sale on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Visitors will be able to take self-guided tours of the historic buildings and the exhibits of local artifacts and antiques. The museum complex includes the 1797 Clerk of Court Office, circa 1820 Old Jail, and circa 1830 Lancaster House.
“The exhibit galleries currently focus on lifestyles of the early American period from about 1780 to 1830, and the 1860s Civil War era,” said Executive Director Karen Hart. “On display are some of the best examples from our collections of furniture, art, silver, ceramics, clothing, accessories, and other household goods and personal effects.”
In the museum store, all shoppers will enjoy sale prices on holiday gifts and decorations and MBW Members will receive an extra discount.
The shop also carries the museum’s own research publications and the area’s biggest selection of books by local authors and on local topics. All sales directly support the nonprofit organization’s educational programs and historic preservation activities.
