Varsity Volleyball: Essex 1 at Lancaster 3—25-16, 22-25, 23-25 and 24-26. Lancaster’s Skylar Kellum led the team with seven kills, followed by Lori Smith and Kellum tying each with four aces, Carli Hanibac with six blocks, Smith also had 25 assists, Paige Pittman had 15 digs and Brittany Jones had 19 saves.

 

Varsity Volleyball: Colonial Beach 0 at Northumberland 3—25-6, 25-14 and 25-7. Northumberland’s Jessie Rew had 11 service aces and four kills, followed by Micaela Pittman with four kills. T’Niyzsa Taylor led Colonial Beach with two kills, followed by Megan Seaman with three aces, Bille Gould and Brooke Payne each with a block, Seaman and Payne each with an assist, Gould with seven digs, and McKenzie Conway with eight saves.

 

Varsity Volleyball: Rappahannock 3 at Washington & Lee 0—25-22, 25-17 and 26-16. Rappahannock’s Xenna Belfield and Katelin Hamilton each had perfect services, Hamilton contributed with one ace. Brandi Mulvena had two kills to go along with three aces; Carlie Clark had three kills, two assists and an ace; Kelsey Berhalter four kills to go along with two blocks; Hallie Berger had eight assists to go along with a kill and an ace. W&L’s Katie Perkins led the team with six kills and two blocks, followed by Haley Balderson, Tori Swann, Amanda Grimm, Savannah Seager and Perkins each having an ace, Balderson also had five assists, and Swann had nine saves.

Volleyball: Essex 0 at Northumberland 3—23-25, 21-25, 21-25. Northumberland’s MK Hall had nine kills and two blocks, followed by Katie Crowther had 10 blocks and seven kills, Connor Haislip had 15 digs and Jessie Rew added five kills.

 

Volleyball: Colonial Beach 0 at Rappahannock 3—14-25, 12-25 and 8-25. Billie Gould led Colonial beach with two kills, four digs and two blocks, followed by Rachael Allison and Kora Herrod each with an ace,  Katelyn Dunaway had five assists, and McKenzie Conway and Herrod each had nine saves. Rappahannock’s Xenna Belfield (4 aces, 2 kills), Carlie Clark (3 aces, 2 assists), Lindsey Delano (4 kills, 2 assists), Katelin Hamilton (2 aces) and Rhiannon Mulvena (2 kills, 1 assist and 2 blocks) all had perfect services. Amanda Headley followed with three kills and a block and Brandi Mulvena had four aces, four kills and three assists.

 

Volleyball: Lancaster 3 at Washington & Lee 1—26-28, 25-15, 25-14 and 25-21. Brooke Hudnall led Lancaster with 13 kills, followed by Lori Smith with four aces and 17 assists, Carli Hanibac with seven blocks, Skylar Kellum with nine digs and Paige Pittman with 15 saves. Alexa Weeks led W&L with eight kills and three blocks, followed by Haley Balderson and Tori Swann each with five aces, Balderson also had 11 assists, Swann had 18 assists and 13 saves.

 

JV Volleyball: Essex 2 at Northumberland 1; Colonial Beach 0 at Rappahannock 2—25-12 and 25-11; and Lancaster 2 at Washington & Lee 1.

Cheer: Northern Neck District Sideline Cheer Competition at King William High School— Essex was crowned the Northern Neck District Champions placing second behind the Tidewater District Champions, King William, who finished first with 268.5 points. Essex placed second with 196 points, Rappahannock in third with 178 points and Middlesex with 174 points.

 

Oct. 24

JV Football: Washington & Lee 6 at Essex 6; Colonial Beach 36 at Lancaster 6; and Rappahannock 22 at Northumberland 16—Colonial Beach wins regular season district title.
