After the sudden death of Ann Bowen in May, wife of Pastor Don Bowen of the Cobham Park Baptist Church of Warsaw, a memorial fund was established. At the time, no one knew what to expect by way of response. When gifts from church members, friends in the community, along with friends far and wide, exceeded $10,000, the family asked that the funds be used for the purchase of a Baby Grand piano for the church sanctuary. This was done and the piano was delivered and used for the first time during the annual Homecoming service on July 27th this year with daughter, Jennifer Denning, playing it for the first time. A special Dedication Service for the piano will be held on Sunday afternoon, September 7 at 3:00 pm with Alan Trip and Scott Griffin of Chicago as guest artists for the occasion. The two young men have been guests of the church before to the delight of everyone who heard them. Both began playing the piano at an early age and have since traveled the globe to share their musical skills. Their unique style of play has been a delight to audiences of all ages. Their music for the dedication service will feature special arrangements of Mrs. Bowen’s favorite hymns, along with arrangements of some of the classics as well. The service will conclude with a piano/organ duet of the Hallelujah Chorus. In addition, the two young men will provide music for the 11:00 am church service, along with a mini-concert as well. The opportunity is a unique one for our area and the church extends a special opportunity to everyone. A reception for Ann’s family, guests and everyone present will follow the dedication service.
