Northern Neck Rivermen back down Crusaders

The Northern Neck Rivermen traveled to Jacksonville, Va to face the TC Crusaders on Saturday August 23. The Rivermen were first on the board with a 10 yard touchdown run by Tim Short. Then their defense took the game over; Devonte Reynolds recovered a fumble and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown to put his team up (15-0) late in the second quarter. In the third quarter, Chris Campbell intercepted a Crusaders pass and returned it for a score. After a long drive by the home team, Alon Clipper stopped them from scoring when he picked off a pass at the 5 yard line and returned it 95 yards for the final score of the game. The Rivermen defense kept the Crusaders frustrated the entire game; they turned them over five times, and scored on three of them. The usual defensive stalwarts Dereck Manning, Sid Thompson, Devonte Reynolds, Laslow Pickett, and Sayon Limbrick showed up again and led the team in tackles and hits. Final score 28-2.
