Former Richmond County Finance Officer charged with embezzlement, illegal use of public funds
Jennifer Lynn Clark, former Finance Officer for Richmond County, has been charged with six counts of embezzlement, one count of illegal use of public funds and one count of obtaining money under false pretenses, all felonies. Clark’s arrest date was Thursday, August 21. She was arraigned Tuesday, Aug. 26.
The listed dates for the offenses range from March 1, 2013 to April 2, 2014.
There were observations and inquiries made by the Richmond County Treasurer’s Office prior to investigation and charges.
According to County Administrator Morgan Quicke, Clark was placed on non-paid, indefinite administrative leave on Wednesday, April 23. She later submitted her notice of retirement on Monday, April 28, 2014. She did not qualify for court-appointed counsel and was given a date to report counsel. The trial is set for Jan. 8, 2015.
