Ellett

 

Robert “Bob” Virgil Ellett, 73, of Lottsburg, Va. died peacefully on July 4, 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Mattingly Ellett; sisters, Judith Freeman and her husband, David Marshall, of Charlottesville, Va and Janice Clarke and her husband, Willis, of Richmond, Va.; a nephew, Ned Freeman of Richmond, Va.; and a niece, Lori Smedley of Chicago, Ill.

Mr. Ellett was born in Richmond, Va. and attended Manchester High School. He was a real estate appraiser in Northern Virginia for many years. In 2002, he and his wife Nancy retired to the Northern Neck of Va. Bob was a member of the Izaak Walton League, Alexandria Chapter, a volunteer group leader for the addiction treatment program at the VA Hospital Center in Arlington, Va., and a member of AA since 1990. He was a fine man and a good friend to many.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Hague, Va. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 8 at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, Va.

Savoy

 

Journie Lynn Savoy was born on June 14, 2014 sleeping. She is the cherished daughter of Glenn and Shavonne Savoy of Northumberland.

Baby Journie is greeted in Heaven by her relatives who have gone on before her and mourned on earth by her mother, father, grandmothers, grandfathers, great-grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of many dear relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held June 21 at Willie Chapel Baptist Church in Merry Point.

Interment services were held at the church cemetery.

Wood

 

Gwenn Tyrone Wood passed away June 21, 2014. He was born Feb. 26,

1959 to Audrey Wood Turner. He was raised in Baltimore, Md. by his mother and father, Sterling Turner.

Tyrone graduated from City College at the age of 16.

He was a professional chef and caterer working for Martin¹s catering in Baltimore for many years.

During his later years, Tyrone moved to Lancaster to be close to his family.

Surviving are two sons, Jeremy Tyrone Wood and Marcus Allen Wood; two grandchildren, Lawrene Wood and Layla Bhengu; a sister, Loleta “Key” Witherspoon; his father, Sterling Turner; a niece, Tanielle Diaz; nephew, Markus Witherspoon II; grandmother, Virginia Turner; a brother-in-law, Markus Witherspoon, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held June 29 at Hartswell Baptist Church, Lancaster.

Interment services were held at the Queen Esther Baptist Church Cemetery, Lancaster.

 Raines

Darryl “D’Train” Lee Raines Sr. passed away June 22, 2014. He was born March 1, 1958 to Gloria and Purnell Raines

He was educated in Northumberland County Public Schools and joined Shiloh Baptist Church, Reedville.

Darryl joined the United States Army in 1979, served during the post-Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge on March 28, 1982.

He worked in construction with Parker Masonry, the fishing industry both local and in Louisiana; Northumberland County Public Schools and Momma’s Pizza with Jaime Packett.

He was predeceased by his dad, Purnell Lee Raines.

Surviving are his mother, Gloria Raines; children, Darryl Jr., Devon and Tiffany Raines and Tamiko Fauntleroy; four grandchildren; his stepmother, Margaret Raines; sisters, Barbara Spence, Carolyn Noel, Gilda Taylor, Alice Payne, Anna Ball, Wanda Johnson and Linda Johnson; brothers, MSG Keith Johnson of Germany and SFC Corey Johnson of Alaska; many other relatives and friends and his special prayer warriors.

Funeral services were held June 28 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Reedville.

Interment services were held at the church cemetery.

Beale

 

Ethel L. Carter Beale of Weems passed away June 1, 2014. She was born Aug. 6, 1935 to Hubbard Carter and Louise Carter Pinkard in Irvington.

Ethel was a lifelong member of Sharon Baptist Church, Weems and attended Lancaster County Public Schools.

Ethel retired after over 20 years working at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oliver A. Beale; a son, Stanley R. Beale and a brother, Hubbard Carter Jr.

Surving are a daughter, Ethel Marie Beale Frederick; a son, Larry Oliver Beale (Mary); two sisters, Ann Raines and Jolene Pinkard; a brother, Dr. Ronald Pinkard (Sherry); an aunt, Hazel Hodge; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held June 7 at Sharon Baptist Church, Weems.

Interment services followed in the church cemetery.

Scott

 

Emma Marie Belle Scott passed away June 3, 2014.

Emma was born Sept. 16, 1934 in White Stone to Crosky and Lou Edythe Davis Belle, was baptized at an early age and attended Lancaster County Public schools.

She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Catherine; eight of her siblings Crosky Jr., Frank, Lloyd, George, Carter, Robert, Catherine and Frances.

Surviving are six sons, Loren (Ella), Steven (Jolande), Andrew (Janet), Wayne, Edwin and Anthony; four daughters, Paulette Scott, Gale Wakeel, Valrie Hooper  (MacLaren) and Tammy Daniels; 39 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Clemetine Belle; two brothers, William Belle (Gayle) and Edwin Belle and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held June 12 at the Mt. Ennon Baptist Church, Clinton, Md.  A viewing service was held June 13 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Reedville.

Interment services were held at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery, White Stone.
