Warsaw planners discuss Helena Chemical site, new subdivision
The Warsaw Planning Commission discussed issues of public safety concerning the Helena Chemical site such as buffers. The site is zoned for industrial use and has already been sold to Helena Chemical based out of Collierville, TN. John Slusser, Warsaw’s Planning Commissioner, stressed that the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will monitor the site to insure that it meets the necessary safety requirements. He again stressed that it will be regulated and will have gone through the proper permit process so hypothetically; it will not pose a danger to public safety or health. But as Lowery closed the discussion, he made the comment that nothing is 100 percent foolproof.
