Spring was in the air on March 2, that’s when Virginia District 15 held their little league tryouts. Little league is celebrating their 75th year of being the largest youth sports organization in the world. Little League motto is Courage, Character and Loyalty. Little League offers baseball and softball for children ages 4-18. There are nearly 2.6 million players in Little League Baseball worldwide, including both boys and girls, including 400,000 registered in Softball (also including both boys and girls). Each summer, Little League operates seven World Series tournaments at various locations throughout the U.S. (Little League softball and Junior, Senior, and Big League baseball and softball). When asked why he plays Little League baseball James “Trey” Shelton said “It’s fun and I like the game.” When asked why she donates her time every year Sue Sherwood responded “I love it, on the baseball field is her favorite place to be, and she wouldn’t want to be any other place.” Contact your counties’ Little League President, if you would like your child to be a late registrar.
